ARCASHA
bespoke design studio
Arcasha-in the greek mythology Arcas {A:rkas} was a hunter who was remembered for having taught people the arts of weaving and baking bread-is a design studio for material research, experimental and conceptual design, founded in 2019.
Arcasha was born in order to get people more excited about the interplay between beauty, simplicity and imperfection and to encourage them to think about global responsibility and socioecological aspects.
What arcasha does, is design objects /textile objects and unique surface images that fuse an avant-garde design approach with traditional craftmanship. With every design piece – whether presented on the floor, hung from the ceiling, or placed somewhere in between – arcasha explores the impact of structure, texture, and color in space, with the goal to mix art, literacy and Romanian values with a contemporary twist. Expanding cultural aspects of art.
The studio engages in custom parts for different projects but also generates research in self-initiated design projects. The studio is based in Cluj, Romania.

Cristina Mocan
The studio is founded by Cristina Mocan, who studied textile design at the Cluj Napoca University of Art and Design.
„There is a vision, a passion, values that influence my design process. It is from this manipulated raw aspects that emerge the objects. The question what is contemporary about craft? is fundamental to my design process“.
Cristina delved into a variety of endeavors including branding and graphic design before starting the studio in 2019. She combined over years her passion for lettering and textures as a freelance artist. Starting with 2015 she have been guided people in the art of asemic writing, adding art trainer to her skill-set, resulting in gestural writing experiences all over the country.
