The SUN, piece from the SPEAKING OF furniture collection supports the basic idea of modularity, and namely that the modules or components of a system can be combined in a flexible way within it.
The sun stands out as a divan-stool with multiple functionalities, and can be used for sitting, or as a side and coffee table. The ensemble consists of 2 individual pieces which can be viewed as components of the whole, or they can be separated and recombined, offering flexibility and variety in use.
A modular design allows the adaptation of solutions according to the needs in question, without great customization of resources. In this way, modularity reduces the complexity of a system providing sustainability to the process.
The internal structure consists of wood and polyurethane sponge, one product obtained by a reset process in the production circuit of the remains of sponge and cloth by the manufacturer of Antares Romania chairs. The structure resulting from the process of recycling is compact, having qualities clearly superior to the classic sponge. The strength and quality of this new product is tested within the department quality control of Antares Romania.
The SUN can help creative reformulations within small spaces over time than in more extensive spaces, the use of the whole assembly can lead to creating a chromatic accent with a contemporary touch.
The upholstery features a contemporary design, hand painted and then digitally printed on a textured fabric. Later on canvas printed was manually intervened with fabric paint for accents additional color.
The folds made on the edge, together with hand-dressed cufflinks complete the concept of the sun and give a special note the whole assembly.
Although constructively the module appears to consist of two segments, the two form one still not removable.
